Belmont Hotel Manila’s vertical garden is a passion project in response to the urgent need to reduce carbon footprint. It thrives on a 40 sq.m balcony space with 10 vertical food tower gardens--aluminum drums that have 40 to 50 soil pockets with built in composter, worm bins and waste container. Various produce are harvested regularly like arugula, tomatoes, Chinese kangkong, eggplant, lettuce, & spinach.
The garden is a work in progress that has made considerable savings for the hotel. It also gave employees a new learning experience that teaches responsibility and respect for nature.
